Ann McCarthy, MD, IFMCP, FAAP

Dr. McCarthy has a small integrative pediatrics and functional medicine practice in Albuqerque, New Mexico. She completed her medical training at the top pediatric residency program in the nation, The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). She obtained Functional Medicine certification through the Institute of Functional Medicine, completed Pediatric Integrative Medicine in Residency training through the University of Arizona, and spent time studying at the Cleveland Clinic’s Center for Functional Medicine.

While at CHOP, Dr. McCarthy had a productive career in academic medicine, with several publications, research awards and projects that focused on neurodevelopment of children with congenital heart disease. She now has the desire to combine her academic background and functional medicine to produce meaningful results for patients and families. Like many, Dr. McCarthy first found functional medicine for herself and now is helping others heal themselves with the principles of functional medicine.

Dr. McCarthy came to medicine after nearly a decade of working in the financial industry as a consultant in mergers and acquisitions and at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. She then obtained her post-baccalaureate at the University of Pennsylvania and medical degree from Temple University.

Her husband is a heart surgeon who brought her to New Mexico, where they now live with their two sons. She is also the founder of Baby Boxes MD, a subscription box company that sends out monthly boxes to new moms during the first year of a baby’s life.
